My name is Steph. I'm a writer at an advertising agency in Chicago. I like bacon, navy blue and moving to new apartments annually. I am bilingual in English and sarcasm. I want to move to London. I want a German Shepherd. I have a lot of dreams and am impatient about achieving them.

Book Review

Here’s what I’ve read the past couple weeks:

Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption

Laura Hillenbrand

My rating: 8/10. It’s a slow start, but a fascinating story about a POW whose spirit gets him through the war.

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks

Rebecca Skloot

My rating: 7/10. I appreciate the thoroughness, but by the end, I was like, “I get it. Zakariyya hates his life and they all got gypped.”

Life of Pi

Yann Martel

My rating: 9/10. I don’t know how I accidentally chose two books in two weeks about being stranded at sea, but rest assured I’ve been studying up on survival techniques.

Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?

Mindy Kaling

My rating: 9.5/10. I know if I give this beach read a 10 and the other books 7s, 8s, and 9s, I’m going to look like a mo. But whatever. I’m pretty confident Mindy and I would be BFFs if I were also famous, cool, and funny. Consequently, I will be posting quotes from her book for the rest of the day.

Next up:

Bright Shiny Morning
