Parents

Are there two better people on Earth? I am endlessly fascinated by my parents’ endless fascination with their children. It doesn’t matter how many times I’ve told them about a work project - they still want to hear more. I’ve been laboring, smiling and just generally freaking out about my first TV spot since November. And now it’s finally going to be on TV THIS WEEKEND and my parents are just as over the moon about it today as they were 4 months ago. They will sit on the couch for hours flipping through the channels in search of my work. They’ll brag to everyone they know. And their bragging reminds me that while I’m busy doubting my abilities 92% of the time, there are two (albeit biased) individuals in the world who think I matter and I’m good at what I do. That unwavering faith is something I can’t even begin to express gratitude for. Parents are overwhelming because no matter how many times you say “thank you” to your mom and dad, it doesn’t even begin to cover the amount of love and support you’ve received your entire life.
